Extremely simple to use

We've made USIMdetective as easy to use as possible. You don't need to have in-depth knowledge of PCs. Just follow the simple instructions and you'll be creating reports in a matter of minutes.

Easy retrieval of information stored on SIM and USIM cards

It takes only a few moments for USIMdetective to acquire information from the card and save it to an Image File.

From here you can request a concise report of the data, which can be tailored to suit your needs.

USIMdetective can read both 2G SIM and 3G USIM cards - it automatically performs the correct acquisition for each type.

Fast, automated and comprehensive data acquisition

Quantaq has designed the software to acquire data from any SIM or USIM card within the minimum number of key strokes - an absolute requirement if you have to process a large number of SIM cards.

Intelligent scanning algorithms ensure that all accessible data is scanned in one go, meaning you only ever need to scan each card once.

Ability to add case notes etc.

In order to provide context to any SIM acquisition, USIMdetective allows you optionally enter extra information at the time of acquisition, including operator name, case ID, exhibit number, Handset type etc.

This information will appear in all subsequent reports.

All acquired data is made secured

It is vital that data is not tampered with post-acquisition.

To ensure this USIMdetective uses two Message Authentication Codes (MACs); one based on MD5 and the other based on SHA-1 to 'lock' the data such that any subsequent tampering of that will raise a warning message.

Quantaq uses both MD5 and SHA-1 hashing technologies to secure data in case one is 'weakened' in cryptography terms.

A detailed, but easy to read report

You can produce reports for any acquired SIM card images at any time. We've designed the report to be informative and easy to read You can even tailor the report to suit your needs (for example, summarised version for printing).

You can even cut and paste sections of the report into other Windows applications (Word, Excel) etc.

A typical report includes the following information:

Acquisition and report information (when carried out, and by who)
Identification information (ICCID, network provider, country of origin etc.)
Personalised telephone numbers (e.g. "JOHN", "ALEX")
SMS Text messages
Concatenated Text messages
Deleted Text messages (where recoverable)
Call details (last numbers dialled/received etc., where discernible)
Location data

Data fully translated according to GSM/3G specifications

All data acquired from the SIM is fully translated according to the ISO/ETSI/3GPP standards specifications.

These specifications are updated every six months or so, and Quantaq provides free upgrades to customers during their 2-year warranty period.

Annotation of telephone number locations

USIMdetective will optionally annotate telephone number entries with their country names (e.g. "+34" prefix is Spain).

For UK landline numbers, USIMdetective will also annotate entries with their UK locations (e.g. "0207352" prefix is Chelsea, London).

It is easy to add national area codes for other countries too.

View deleted text messages

When text messages stored in the SIM are deleted by the user, many phones simply mark these messages as being deleted - the messages themselves remain stored on the SIM.

USIMdetective recovers deleted text messages where possible and reports them.

Interactive data analysis - Professional Edition Only

In addition to the report generation facility, you can analyse all of the acquired data using a "Windows Explorer"-like utility.

Here you can look at both translated and hex views (hex data displayed in red for individual data items selected).
